Atari Stock – Jack Tramiel

Irving Gould (Commodore’s finacier) and Jack Tramiel (CEO and founder of Commodore) had a successful working relationship until 1984 when an argument (the reasons behind it remain secret to this day) caused Jack Tramiel to quit on the spot.
On January 13th 1984, Jack Tramiel formed a new company named Tramel Technology, Ltd. (TTL), in order to design and sell a next-generation home computer.
He went on to buy the Consumer Division of Atari Inc. from Warner Communications, which had fallen on hard times, due to the video game crash of 1983.  The company TTL was then renamed Atari Corporation.
The certificate of stock in my collection represents 5000 shares of Atari Corporation, that were owned by Jack Tramiel.
