Printing in the clouds

A question that was on many people’s minds was how will you be able to print from a web-centric device such as an iPad? Apple’s latest iPhone OS 4.0, due for the iPhone this summer and for the iPad this fall, does not show any insights as far as I can see on the rumoured wireless printing capabilities… and that’s where Google may have winner with their “Google Cloud Print”.

This method will solve the printing issue of Chrome OS’ by interposing itself between applications and the printing hardware. What it boils down to is that when you want to print you’ll be sending your request over to a Googlestation up in the “clouds”, which in turn will forward it along to the nearest printer (or any other internet-enabled printer).

Althought still at a very early stage, code and developers documentation are available now.
